Dr. N. El Gueddari, a cardiac surgeon in Marseille, approached Hélène Fournié for the creation of a line illustration intended for a scientific publication. This drawing was to be in black and white, summarizing in one single image the specificity of their surgery technique in Marseille: the replacement of the aortic root with a biological valved tube including a subvalvular collar. This operation is intended for patients who have already undergone aortic graft surgery and developed an infection with abscess formation.
